EMPLOYEE WAS HAZING DUCKS WITH LONG RANGE "BIRD BOMBS" DISCHARGED FROM A HAND HELD LAUNCHING DEVICE. NORMALY THESE CARTRIDGES TRAVEL 300-400' BEFORE EXPLODING. IN THIS CASE THE CARTRIDGE DETON ATED IN THE LAUNCHER CAUSING THE EMPLOYEE'S EARS TO RING.
