Worker on blasting crew was at mine face loading explosives when rock fell approximately 10 feet before striking him on his hardhat and left arm. Rock measured aproximately 1-inch thick by 15-inches by 6-feet. The work area had been scaled mechanically and by hand.
EE was inside cab of machine scaling when rock from the mine roof fell & struck the cab of the scaler. The rock that hit the equipment jolted the worker inside the cab. 1 or 2 small rock pieces had fallen in the area just before the last rock fell. The engine on the scaler turned off after the cab was struck so the worker exited the cab through rear window to flee the work area
Rock fell from roof of mine and landed on the basket of the anfo loader. The operator was in the cab and suffered a back sprain. The employee had restrictions placed on his work by a doctor causing the injury to be recordable.
