An employee was using the V-belts to rotate a pump by hand while troubleshooting. The employee's fingertip got pinched between the V-belts and the sheave, causing a small fracture.

While welding on a chute the miner leaned up against a tail pulley guard to steady himself to strike an arc. When he put all his weight onto his forearm he was punctured with a sharp rock that was on the guard. the cut required three stitches.
