Showing all 15Removing a fan from a track unit and the wrench slipped, resulting in a cut to the palm of employee's right hand, near thumb area. Employee received five (5) stitches.
Employee was tightening upper bolts on breaker plates using a 3/4" ratchet in a tight area. The ratchet slipped out of the socket and with the force trying to tighten it, smashed his right hand pinky finger.
Employee was using a utility knife to cut open the center strip of rubber on the 8 x 20 screen. Knife slipped and cut his left palm of hand.
Employee was cutting conveyor belting from a roll to use as a chute deflector. The knife did not cut all the way through, so the employee made a cut by pulling the knife toward him. The knife slipped and cut him in the left knee.
While employee was using a 16 lb. sledge hammer he felt a strain in his lower back. The employee has been trained in the proper handling of a sledge hammer to avoid future injuries.
Employee was doing maintenance work on his loader. He was using a sledgehammer to drive a pin out of a loader tooth. The sledgehammer glanced off the corner of the punch and struck the left hand index finger.
EMPLOYEE WAS USING A PORTA-POWER RAN TO STRAIGHTEN A BENT BRACKET ON A CONVEYOR. THE PISTON/RAM CAME OUT AND LANDED ON HIS LEFT INDEX FINGER. HIS FINGER WAS PUSHED INTO AN ANGLE IRON CAUSING A LACERATION.
EE WAS USING A #20 SLEDGE HAMMER AND FELT PAIN AFTER REPEATED USE.
MECHANIC WAS REMOVING A UNIVERSAL JOINT FROM A DRIVE SHAFT, WITH THE SHAFT CLAMPED IN A VISE HE WAS HAMMERING ONT HE CROSS OF THE JOINT WHEN A PIECE FRAGMENTED FROM THE HAMMER AND IT LODGED IN HIS LEFT FOREARM.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL A SPLICED PIECE OF HOSEAPART, HE FAILED TO PUT DOWN A RAZOR KNIFE THAT HE WAS HOLDING IN HIS RIGHT HAND. AS HE WAS PULLING ON THE HOSE, THE KNIFE CUT HIS KNUCKLE OF "L ITTLE" FINGER ON HIS LEFT HAND CAUSING A LACERATION.
WHILE TAKING A BOLT OUT OF THE LOADER, THE WRENCH SLIPPED AND CAUSED HIS HAND TO STRIKE THE ENGINE BLOCK WITH HIS FINGER AND CAUSED A SMALL LACERATION THAT REQUIRED 3 SUTURES.
LACERATION TO LEG. EE LACERATED LEG WHILE CUTTING A CONVEYOR BELT WHILE USING A UTILITY KNIFE.
WHILE SITTING DOWN WITH BOTH LEGS HANGING OVER EDGE OF CONE CHASSIS, HE WAS USING 2 WRENCHES TO TIGHTEN LUBRICATION FITTINGS. WHEN HE PULLED WRENCHES TOGETHER HE FELT A POP IN HIS LEFT TERS TICLE Y
