While in the process of releasing the tension on a fixed mounted barge winch on barge hmt-408, the ratchet handle of the winch "kicked" toward the employee. The sudden movement of the handle caused a muscle strain in the employee's right shoulder. The employee visited an emergency room where he was given a muscle relaxer.

EE WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A CUT WITH A HACKSAW ON A DEFECTIVE BEARING. THE UNSECURED BEARING MOVED IN THE PROCESS AND THE BLADE OF THE SIMPLEMANUAL- OPERATED HACKSAW CUT THE SECOND FINGER OF THE EE'S LT. HAND.
EE WAS ASSISTING IN MAINTENANCE PROJECT. A 2 15/16" SHAFT WAS LIFTED ONTO THE TAILGATE OF A PICKUP, AND A MECHANIC WAS REMOVING A TAPER LOCK BURSHING. THE INJURED EE WAS STANDING IN THE PROXIM ITY WHEN A SMALL CHISEL, BEING USED TO SPREAD THE TAPERLOCK SUDDENLY FLEW OUT STRIKING THE INJURIED EE.
