A mechanic was removing a brake disc plate with a pry bar. As the plate came loose, the end of the bar contacted the mechanic on the chin. The contact resulted in a 1" laceration that required stitches.

Torquing bolts on push blade when fingers were caught betwee the blade and the acuator for the pneumatic torque wrench causing fracture and laceration requiring stitches to two fingers.

Technician was changing brake pads on a pickup. While loosening one of the bolts on the caliper, the bolt came loose suddenly and handle of the ratchet pinched his finger, causing a laceration.

Worker was driving in wood posts for silt fencing with hammer and missed. His left index finger was pinched between the hammer handle and the top of the post.

A welder was using a chain anchor to remove a drill bit from a drill steel. He was hit on the knee with a sharp edge on the chain causing a one inch laceration on his knee. The laceration required four stitches

The employee was using a pocket knife in his right hand to cut some tape when it sliped and lacerated the left hand palm. It required 5 stitches to close the wound.

Mechanic was loosening the end of an engine hose when his wrench slipped, causing his thumb to be pinched against the haul truck structure. This resulted in a cut to his right thumb.

The final cut had been made on the 96" conveyor belt in prep for vulcanization. Employee stood up, remaining in a bent over position in the 42" space. While he was backing out from under the belt he inadvertently pressed the blade of his razor knife into his thigh causing a puncture wound about 2 cm long through the epidermis, stopping barely into the dermis (2 sutures).

Employee was cutting a piece of rubber for a belt repair. While he was cutting, the knife slipped and punctured his glove. The knife lacerated his left index finger. Sutures were required.

EE was replacing the rear suspension cylinder on a CAT 793 truck. As he was using a sledge hammer to drive the top strut pin from its bore he felt a pain in his right wrist. He did not report the incident at that time. On 9/22/06, as he was loosening/tightening the wear plate retaining bolts on a 24M motor grader, using a 3/4" impact wrench, he again experienced pain in wrist.

The employee was pounding out a latchbar insert for a shovel bucket using a sledge hammer. A small piece of steel splintered off the insert and penetrated the inside of the right thigh. An incision was needed to remove the metal fragment and four stitches were required to close the affected area.

At the time of the incident employee was removing a roller bearing from the shaft of a pump drive. After heating the bearing race to cause it to expand employee attempted to use a hammer and punch to knock the race off the shaft. When he struck the race, a metal chip broke loose and struck him under the chin.

EE WAS REINSERTING THE CENTER PIN ON THE EQUILIZER BAR OF A CAT D10N. TO DRIVE THE PIN INTO PLACE, HE PARTIALLY INSTALLED THE RETAINING PLATE OVER THE PIN AND WAS STRIKING THE PLATE WITH A SLE DGE HAMMER. AS HE SWUNG THE HAMMER TO STRIKE THE PLATE, THE HAMMER GLANCED OFF A RETAINING PLATE BOLT, STRUCK THE PLATE AT AN ANGLE AND BOUNCED BACK, STRIKING HIM IN THE FACE/MOUTH.

EE WAS STRIPPING WAS OFF FLOORS. SHE WAS USING A WIDE BLADE PUTTY KNIFE TO REMOVE EXCESS WAX BY BASEBOARDS. HER HAND SLIPPED AND CAME DOWN ON DULL SIDE OF PUTTY KNIFE AND SHE LACERATED MIDDLE FINGER OF LEFT HAND. REQUIRED 5 STITCHES TO CLOSE.
