Westmoreland Rosebud Mining LLC · Struck by flying object

A welder was grinding in the welding shop. They felt something fall into their eye. Was taken to the clinic, where a piece of metal was removed from their eye. Welder was given prescription eye drops, making this reportable. Welder was wearing safety glasses and a face shield at the time of the incident.

Westmoreland Beulah Mining LLC · Struck against a moving object

While being loaded in an End Dump with dirt, the operator experienced bouncing in the cab when the excavator dropped a bucket load into the truck. The operator reported experiencing soreness in the neck and shoulders. After being evaluated at a local clinic, the operator was given work restrictions that prevent them from returning to work.

While removing the bolts from the belly pan of a dozer, dirt fell in behind the employee's safety glasses and got into EE's eye. EE was taken to the clinic and the debris was successfully removed. The employee was given prescription eye drops, making this incident reportable.

The employee running a dozer. EE was backing up and was looking over right shoulder. EE hit some rough ground, jarring EE and causing pain in the lower back. EE was taken to the clinic and checked out. EE continued to work and later went to get rechecked. EE was not released to duty and the employer was notified of this on 1/10/24.

Employee operating portable hydraulic jack pinched left pinky finger between the jack handle and the shop floor from not engaging the hydraulics and not maintaining control of employee's balance. The left pinky finger was broken.

EE was getting loaded in a Cat 777 The bucket load of mud caused the truck to shift and at end of shift EE reported a sore back. EE went to medical and was not released to next scheduled shift

while operating Cat D11 dozer cleaning highwall for dragline rocks fell from on dozer. Operator stated EE was ok at the time. EE worked 4 shifts and then went to Dr reporting sore back. Operator did not report to work on 2-16-23 making this a reportable incident

Oiler was hooking the fantail cable up with a small rope to the chain hoist, the employee had the hoist remote in EE's right hand to remove the slack in the rope. Employees left hand was holding the hoist chain clevis and rope while operating the remote when the tip of EE's left ring finger was pinched by the clevis.

Employee was working on Dozer, when they took a bolt out of the slack adjuster assembly there was stored energy and the assembly came apart striking the impact gun, then the impact gun struck the employee. The employee was taken to the clinic and received stitches then released back to work.

The employee was repairing a tire with a buffing tool, the tool slipped in EE's hand causing a laceration on EE's right hand along the pointer finger. The employee received stitches to close the laceration.

Fletcher operator attempted to pull in to XC-42, between 5 & 6 Entry, the Fletcher contacted the mobile dust pod already in that crosscut and also contacted an employee working on cleaning the Pod. The contacted employee was caught between the two units, resulting in bruising to the back and legs.

While tensioning truss cables, used in the Minova In-Roof truss system, using the truss gun one of the truss shoes broke free from the roof causing the truss gun, cable and dog bone keepers to fall and strike the employee on the right shoulder. Employee received chiropractic care.

Employee was standing on Shield 176 and was operating the pan push function, using the in-shield controls. EE left hand was resting on the gob wing. As the TG drive pushed forward, ee middle finger on the left hand was pinched by the gob plate as it moved closer to the shields during the push.
