Employee was using a hand-held 9" grinder to reduce thickness of a metal plate. During the activity, the grinder "kicked" back, w/ the rotating wheel striking the employee on top of the left knee. Employee suffered a laceration/cut approximately 3" long and approximately 0.25" deep. Employee was taken to Urgent Care facility where wound was treated and closed w/ seven stitches.

EE WAS CUTTING SCRAP STEEL. A PIECE OF STEEL PLATE THAT HE HAD CUT LOOSE FELL ONTO HIS RIGHT FOOT.
