MMU001 No. 3 entry SS#3845. Employee had drill steel leaning against tray while installing a belt hanger, when he lowered the drill head the drill steel fell between the drill head and bottom causing the drill steel to bend and releasing striking employee on the right elbow causing a fracture.

Showing all 11The individual was roof bolting and misplaced a 5' piece of drill steel. The drill steel lodged in a fan bracket and when the individual swung the drill head out the drill steel flew up and struck the employee in the mouth. No medical treatment has been sought by the individual.
During roof bolting operations, the individual states he had his hand on canopy handle and when he swung the drill head out, the canopy came in contact with the roof mashing his left ring and pinky fingers.
The injured was drilling a roof bolt hole when the drill steel bowed out and struck his left hand. This resulted in a fracture to his hand.
The miner was pushing a roof bolt up into the roof bolt hole when he strained his lower back. The miner did not start missing work until 8-14-07.
EMPLOYEE WAS INSTALLING ROOF BOLTS IN #5 HEADING. HE WAS HOLDING HIS DRILL STEEL IN LINE TO START A BOLT HOLE WHEN HE STARTED DRILL ROTATION, THE STEEL CAUGHT HIS GLOVE AND TWISTED HIS LT. HAND, FRACTURING HIS LEFT THUMB.
The injured was preparing to drill a roof bolt hole. The jack was set on a small piece of rock and as the canopy was raised the rock broke. This caused the drill head to suddenly drop about 4 inches striking him on the head.
EE WAS INSTALLING ROOF BOLTS. WHILE PUTTING HEAD OF BOLT IN DRILL CHUCK TO PUSH BOLT UP AND TIGHTEN, HE SPUN BOLT CATCHING HIS GLOVE ON PLATE AND JERKING HIS RIGHT ARM.
INJURED WAS BOLTING #2 WHEN A ROCK MEASURING APPROX. 3'LONG X 2'WIDE X 1"THICK FELL ON THE OPERATORS CANOPY & SLID OFF & HIT OPERATOR ON SIDE OF HEAD & RIGHT SHOULDER.
EMPLOYEE WAS INSTALLING ROOF BOLTS, AND WHILE DRILLING HOLE, ROCK FELL STRIKING HIM ON THE RIGHT ARM.
EMPLOYEE WAS DRILLING A HOLE FOR A ROOF BOLT, A PIECE OF ROCK SLID DOWN DRILL STEEL STRIKING HIM ON THE LEFT FOREARM.
