HIGH HUMIDITY, 17 DEGREE MNORNING. THE TAILGATE LATCH OF AN OVER THE ROAD END DUMP DID NOT CLOSE WHEN THE IN-CAB SWITCH WAS ACTIVATED. THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO ASSIST THE LATCH BY HITTING IT WI TH HIS LEFT HAND. THE LATCH ACTIVATED, TRAPPING HIS FINGER.
