Showing all 5Miner cut a small diameter tree, which fell & bounced, causing the butt of the tree trunk to spring up, striking the miner in the chest. At the hospital it was determined, the miner suffered a fractured sternum, and that a laceration of the liver occurred, but had ceased bleeding. Miner admitted to Pikeville Medical Center.
Double L Trucking truck driver, employed by Clintwood Mng. Co. Inc., jumped from the operator's cab after losing control of the truck. The operator suffered 2 cracked ankles & 1 knee fracture as a result of the impact force experienced when he contacted the ground.
EMPLOYEE WAS PULLING ON A ROCK WITH THE EXCAVATOR BUCKET. THE BUCKET SLIPPED CAUSING THE EXCAVATOR TO MOVE SUDDENLY CAUSING A WHIPLASH TYPE OF INJURY.
EE WAS CUTTING TREES. HE SET THE SAW DOWN AND WAS STEPPING OVER IT WHEN HE LOST HIS BALANCE AND FELL ON THE SAW BLADE, CUTTING HIS LEG, REQUIRING SIX STITICHES.
