FIELD MECHANIC WAS WORKING ON A TRAVEL CHAIN FOR A 4600 MANITOWOC DRAGLINE, WHEN HE STARTED TO HAMMER ON A STEEL PIN. AFTER A FEW STROKES WITH THE HAMMER, A SMALL PIECE OF THE PIN SHOT OFF AND ENTERED HIS LEFT LEG (REAR CALF). HIS SUPERVISOR THEN REPORTED THE INCIDENT AND EE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A WORKERS COMP CENTER.
