Eagle Mine LLC · Struck by falling object

While a miner was scaling the face, a rock 1'x6"x6" came loose and struck the miner's hardhat. The miner was taken to the hospital and was prescribed medication and time away from work.

While using a wrench to loosen a nut, the wrench slipped off the nut and the maintenance worker struck their hand on a bracket injuring their hand.

The miner's tool slipped causing the right elbow to receive a 3/4" long cut by the loader bucket. The Miner and co-worker cleaned and dressed the injury. On 6/20/23 a doctor diagnosed cellulitis in the elbow, drained fluid, and applied a dressing.

The employee was attempting to loosen a bolt on a Jumbo drifter to change a striker bar when the wrench slipped off the bolt. The wrench hit the employee in the lip causing a laceration requiring sutures to close.

Two miners were working together to install utilities when they loosened the bolts on the Victaulic clamp on the air header prior to relieving the pressure. One miner received a fracture to right forearm, the second miner was treated for eye injuries when glasses were blown off, also received soft tissue injuries to the left forearm.

Two employees were working on replacing the packing on the nickel Filter feed standby pump, they were installing the packing gland and while one employee was pushing the gland in with a pry bar, the pry bar slipped and struck the second employee's hand while was securing the fasteners.

Employee was repairing a damaged wall; while swinging a sledge hammer his hand slipped down the handle and left palm made contact with an improperly seated nail head causing a laceration. Employee received six stitches and was released back to work the same day.

A mechanic/electrican apprentice was using a Milwaukee utility knife to strip the outer jacket off a 410 cable; he was pulling the outer jacket with his left hand and cutting around the jacket with his right hand; the blade slipped and cut his left palm. Employee was wearing cut resistant gloves at the time. Employee received 5 stitches on his left palm.
