IE was using a hand tool (wrench) to tighten a bolt on skirting rubber, when his hand slipped and got smashed between wrench and steel beam.
Employee was hammering out a bolt in a hole when the hammer struck the washer that was still on the bolt, the washer hit the employee's lip cutting it open. Employee was wearing safety glasses. No lost time. 4 stitches were given.
Driving on socket to install bearing, socket broke and cut him by knuckle between pointer finger and middle finger, requiring 5 stitches.
Employee was holding a center sleeve which is attached by nails to the end of a roll of belting upright while another EE was hitting the belt with a hammer to free it from the sleeve. His left index finger was smashed by the hammer. He was taken to the ER & received stitches.
CUTTING BEARINGS OUT OF A 3 15/16 HEADPULLEY BEARING ON A TRACK FEEDER. AFTER REMOVING THE BEARING HOUSING HE CUT THE BEARING RACE ON 2 SIDES AND STRUCK IT WITH A HAMMER. AT THAT TIME A FRAGME NT OF HOT RACE DISLODGED AND STRUCK HIM IN THE UPPER CHEST/SHOULDER AREA.
