Showing all 7Employee was drilling a hole with an electric hand drill, when the bit pierced through the material and got caught, causing the drill to twist and pinch his left hand against a nearby elevator casing. The employees finger was injured and pinched. Employee did not report injury until 10-7-07.
Employee was drilling out a lock that would not open. The bit passed through the lock and into his finger. This resulted in a puncture wound.
Employee was grinding on the crusher hopper when a piece of steel hit the side of the hopper and glanced under his safety glasses and went into his eye. At the time he though it was dirt in his eye. The next morning his eye was getting worse and went to the doctor.
EE ws using an air hose w/wand extension to do a clean-out process in the pin mixer chute. The employee's hand slipped off the wand. The wand thrusted upward towards his face/body. He raised his right hand to block the wand. The wand struck his right thumb, bending it backwards towards the wrist.
Employee was welding, starting and stopping a lot and during this time got several flashes of bright welding to his eyes. It was dark during this time also which made it worse. Eyes itched and burned later that night so employee went to doctor and got medicene for his eyes and that was the extent of the injury.
Employee was using oxy/acet torch to cut a piece of steel. When steel was almost cut through, pieces of slag were blown into his face. Some slag became embedded in right eye.
