Showing all 9Employee was walking across the maintenance shop when EE was struck by a particle ejected by a nearby task (portable grinder). Foreign object in left eye. Object was not imbedded and was flushed out. Required Rx medication for eye.
Injury was reported to Mine Operator that this was a work related injury on 10/12/16. Employee reports: While using a pneumatic, pistol grip, type of chisel EE injured EE's right thumb. EE requested medical attention on 10/13/16 and was seen by medical professional on 10/14/16 and diagnosed with a strain/sprain to the right thumb.
While in the process of cleaning the swirl chamber the miner lifted a jack hammer into position and felt a pain in his right shoulder. The miner did not see a doctor until 7/21/2014 at which time he was placed on restricted duty.
While working on a floating pump assembly the miner was struck in the back with the boom of a excavator. He has five broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung.
EE was replacing one link on the Raw Mill Elevator chain. EE was having difficulty removing the pin from the chain and decided to use a porta power ram to press the pin out of the link. EE leaned over the porta power to see if pin was moving when the porta power kicked out striking EE in the face. EE received 13 stitches and a broken nose.
EE had been utilizing a bench grinder and 4" grinder on guards during the day. That night his eye started bothering him. After going to the doctor 2 days later it was determined that he had metal in his eye. Eye drops were prescribed.
Employee was welding anchors in the cooler and some hot material broke free above him striking him in the head and and neck.
Ground shifted under drill and caused drill to overturn.
