In the process of cutting a steel pipe with a cutting torch, the metal popped out at the end of the cut, which caused the employee to sustain laceration in the left thumb.

Employee was operating an industrial vacuum to clear out dirt from around a pipe that needed repaired. As employee was using the machine, EE got the end of the suction line too close to the ground causing it to abruptly suck down to the ground. This abrupt movement caused the employee to be jerked down too. Employee strained lower back as a result.
