Showing all 11Employee operating stationary belt saw when belt jammed in rock. Tried to wedge and pry rock apart. While hitting wedge, chunk of rock/marble broke loose and struck employee in shin. Required 5 stitches.
Employee operating stationary belt saw and completing a cut on a block of marble. Standing on platform at control panel, noticed movement to his left. Saw a slab tilting outward, reached to left to very edge of slab. At same time, a 4" x 6" x 5' timber used to hold slabs in place came loose toward employee, came in contact with tip of finger on left hand.
Employee taking slab off polishing line with jib crane/grabs to place on A frame. Slab was leaning and not stabilized. She tried to reposition the grabs but the slab cut her left leg and the weight of the slab or the impact caused her heel to fracture.
EE working on gang saw trying to work a slab loose that was stuck in blades. When the slab broke free, the EE lost his balance and noticed his knee bleeding after the job was completed, with no pain.
Marble material on saw bed, in slab form, used jib crane to adjust slab on bed. Began to lift with suction device and released off slab, causing crane stabilizing bar to move up and hit his chin.
EMPLOYEE WAS MAKING A CRATE FRO MARBLE USING NAIL GUN. ON 4TH EJECTION OF NAIL, IT SPLIT THE WOOD AT EDGE CAUSING NAIL TO GO THROUGH WOOD, THEN DEFLECTED ON A METAL SQUARE MAKING NAIL HIT FING ER IN RIGHT HAND.
EE WAS OPERATING A STATIONARY AUTOMATIC SHAPING MACHINE. HE FELT SOMETHING IN EYE. FLUSH WAS APPLIED AND HE FELT OK. LATER AT HOME EYE BECAME RED & IRRITATED REQUIRING EXAMINATION.
EMPLOYEE WAS USING CARBIDE GRINDER WITH GRINDING WHEEL ON MARBLE. THE WHEEL BROKE APART COMPLETELY, WHEEL LACERATED PINKY FINGER AND BURNED MIDDLE FINGER.
EMPLOYEE WAS USING AIR CHISEL, CUTTING VENT HOLE, A PART OF THE MARBLE FELL, THE EMPLOYEE WAS TRYING TO CATCH THE MARBLE WHEN IT CUT HIS RIGHT HAND, THUMB.
EE WAS ALIGNING MARBLE SLAB INTO SAWS BY HAND. SLABS RUN INTO SAWS BY CONVEYOR. THE EDGE OF THE SLAB WAS ROUGH AND SHARP. WHEN SLAB MOVED THE FINGER GOT JAMMED BETWEEN MARBLE AND CONVEYOR ROLL ER CAUSING LACERATION.
