While using a tractor to pull a header to bottom, the operator drove over a head that had been dragged into the roadway, resulting in a jarring motion that caused low back pain. Started missing work on 2/26/2026.
Employee had pulled a diesel golf cart into a crosscut with the back partially in the road when a mantrip struck the rear of it. EE was getting back on the golf cart at the time and the steering column struck EE in the groin area. EE received bruising and an abrasion to EE's scrotum. EE was taken off work the next day as EE was unable to perform EE's job due to restrictions.
Employee was leaving a unit on EE's golf cart. As EE was preparing to turn on the road, a mantrip turned striking the front of employee's golf cart causing EE to bump EE's left knee. EE continued to work until 2/10/2026 and had surgery on 2/11/2026 on EE's left knee and was taken off work due to not being able to perform EE's normal work duties.
A passenger of a mantrip that hit the corner of a rib was dislodged from the seat and landed on the mine floor. EE was diagnosed with two stable vertebral compression fractures in the spine. Started missing work on 12/02/2025.
The operator dozed off while driving a mantrip, causing the trip to hit the rib. The operator hit EE's left knee on the dash of the ride resulting in sutures to close a cut. No work was missed.
Employee was driving a shuttle car on an outby construction project when EE's bumper rode up on the miner bumper and as EE pulled away the car dropped causing EE to hit EE's head on the canopy. EE was taken to the ER where no physical injuries were observed but EE was taken off work as restrictions prevented EE from performing EE's normal job.
Employee was using a lo trac to compact contents of a dumpster. As they pushed down with the forks, they dropped suddenly causing the machine to pivot. Their left forearm was pinched between the fire suppression guard on the front of the machine and the fire extinguisher guard on the rear. This resulted in a laceration which required ten sutures.
Employee was standing in crosscut as a diesel scoop was pulling another diesel scoop. The chain hooked between the scoops pulled tight throwing a piece of rock striking the employee in the forehead above left eye. Employee received four sutures at the mine nurse and returned their next scheduled shift.
Shuttle car operator was turning a tight muddy corner, hitting the rib with the bumper of the car it jarred EE's hand loose from the handle on the canopy, causing EE's left arm to get pinched between the car and the rib. Operator received two stitches.
Employee was riding in the passenger seat of a diesel jake. At idle speed the driver swerved to miss something in the road and the passenger fell off of the ride, causing pain in right shoulder. Started missing work on 11/11/2024
Employee was a passenger in a mantrip when the operator of the mantrip hit a rough spot in the road causing the injured employee to hit their lower back on the edge of the seat. Started missing work on 09/26/2024.
Employee was in the front passenger seat of a mantrip that was traveling the supply road to bottom when it drove through a clear curtain and struck the bucket of a diesel scoop that was backing into a crosscut. The injured employee hit their head on the mantrip resulting in a laceration on EE's forehead. Employee was taken to the ER and received glue on the wound.
Employee was pulling a trailer off the cage with a diesel tractor, the employee had hand resting on the bump stop in the pivot point of the diesel tractor. As EE made a turn, the ends of the tractor came together, EE's right pinky finger was caught in between the bump stops. This resulted in a distal fracture in the right pinky finger and also required 14 sutures.
While driving a golf cart, the front tire hit a rock causing the steering wheel to spin out of control and stopping the cart. The steering wheel caught EE's right hand dislocating EE's ring finger.
With very little space between the grader and tractor the grader went to back up as the employee proceeded to move between the two pieces of equipment. The grader turned around to look behind and accelerated in forward instead of reverse, catching the employees' leg between the two pieces of equipment. Resulting in a fracture to the right leg. Started missing work 6/13/2024
Employee was helping chain up a foot jack and boom on a roof bolter that was being supported by a scoop bucket when EE's right hand was smashed between the boom and scoop bucket. EE had surgery on 5/13/24.
Employee was backing a mantrip and struck EE's foot.
EE was hauling rock dust in a ram car, when EE ran over something in the road causing sharp pain in their lower back. EE worked until 4/2/2024.
Employee was riding in a mantrip when the mantrip slid into the rib causing EE to bump the SCSR against the inside of the mantrip resulting in a bruise of EE's left hip. EE went to the doctor and was given restrictions and started missing work on 11/02/2023.
Employee was driving their car and ran over a rock in haul road and felt their back hurting, they finished the shift and went to the doctor the next day and was taken off of work on 11/15/2023.
Employee was splicing a miner cable in the LOCC when a battery scoop backed into them resulting in them being taken to the hospital and all tests were negative. Employee returned to full duty on 10/02/2023.
Employee was riding on a 10 person diesel mantrip in the middle compartment behind the driver facing forward when another 10 person diesel mantrip struck them in the side resulting in the employee being injured. EE became a lost time injury on 08/18/2023.
Employee was backing car up when EE's left got caught between the cab and the rib resulting in EE having a small fracture in their foot.
Employee was holding up a cable to let a low trac go past when the rear tire of the low trac caught the back of EE's left heal causing EE to go to the doctor where x-rays showed no broken bones just a contusion. The doctor had EE with restrictions and EE is not back to work.
Employee hit chin on the steering wheel of ride resulting in 4 stitches. Employee did not miss any work and returned to regular duty. Employee was taken off work on 03/10/2023.
Employee was tramming their scoop through a curtain when some dust got into their eye under the safety glasses resulting in an eye irritation and employee missing 2 days of work.
Employee was riding out after shift on a 10 man diesel ride and the ride slid into the rib causing EE to fall out of the passenger side resulting in EE seeing the doctor the next day. EE did not receive a full duty release and started missing work on 10/01/2022.
Employee was driving down the supply road on the golf cart and a truss bolt struck EE across the nose resulting in a fracture of EE's nose. EE did not miss any work or have restricted duty.
Employee was driving shuttle car and hit a hole causing EE to hit left knee on an angle iron inside the car. EE continued to work until the doctor took EE off of work on 09/09/2022.
Employee was driving the mantrip out and struck head on a low place hurting neck resulting in 2 days of shorter shifts.
Employee was riding in a mantrip on the way out after staying in roof bolting when the mantrip went through a rough spot causing employee to have pain in employee's back. Employee continued to work until employee went off of work on 06/08/2022.
Employee was dropping EE's bolter cable down when a car bumped EE causing EE to hurt EE's back EE finished the shift, went to the doctor and was given a full duty work release. EE worked 1 day at not EE's normal work occupation restricted duty.
Employee was loading behind the miner when a piece of gob fell off the canopy striking employee in left arm requiring stitches.
Employee was turning shuttle car into the face of #1 entry. The sleeve of their jacket was just over the side of the operators deck. The sleeve was caught between the car and the coal rib pulling arm in enough to cause a laceration. The laceration required stitches.
Employee pinched the bottom of EE's left upper arm between a shuttle car and the coal rib. EE continued to work until EE started missing on September 15th.
Employee was driving a diesel golf cart when it stopped suddenly causing them to hit their mouth on the steering wheel. EE had lacerations to mouth requiring stitches.
While repositioning a unit ride near the shaft bottom, a foot got caught between the ride and a supply trailer. Stitches were required.
Employee was driving EE's scoop in the unit return when EE ran over a rock causing EE to jam EE's head and neck. EE continued working until EE started to miss on 3/18/21 due to a bulging disk.
Employee jammed/jarred EE's neck while driving an end drive shuttle car on No. 11 unit. EE's neck continued to bother EE and on January 29, 2021, EE started missing work to schedule surgery.
Employee was standing between 5 and 6 entries to roll up a curtain. A shuttle car in the face of 5 started car. The cable had some slack in it and the cable swept across the entry striking the victim on the left ankle. The result was a fractured foot.
While employee was attempting to enter the deck of a scoop, the scoop rolled slightly injuring EE's ribs on EE's left side.
Citation No. 9570455 was issued during a Part 50 Audit regarding this injury. The employee tried to push a belt splice past a a bottom hanger while pulling on belt. EE's foot was pulled in between the roller and the belt.
While driving a shuttle car in the last open, the car hit a bump in the road causing employee to hit head on the canopy. This resulted in a broken left back tooth.
Employee was driving a golf cart when employee bumped into a parked mantrip. Employee hit mouth on the steering wheel causing a laceration and chipped a tooth.
While Driving a shuttle car on No 5 unit, the car hit a bump causing the employee to be thrown into the top of the canopy resulting in neck and back pain. EE began to miss work on March 4, 2020. Since March 4, this case has been under investigation and it was determined on March 24th that the absence from work was work related.
Employee had exited EE's car and was reaching back into the deck to get a hammer. A scoop came along and bumped the car. This caused the victims leg to get caught between the operators deck and the door to the deck resulting in a laceration to EE's shin that required sutures.
EE was driving a shuttle car and taking coal from the cont. miner to the feeder. When they went through a curtain, a rock that was laying next to the rib was hit by the car causing a portion of it to slide up into the deck of the car. The rock scraped right leg that had a bit tool in the pocket. The tool punctured their leg and needed three (3) stitches to close the wound.
Employee was riding a golf cart along the 1st 60 beltline. The front passenger tire got caught on a timber causing the steering wheel to turn suddenly. Employee's left index finger was caught between the steering wheel and the locking device causing a laceration and fracture to the finger tip.
EE was assisting in a power move. While moving a waterline, EE placed right hand on top of a scoop bucket. At the same time, the scoop operator began to move the stinger back catching the little finger in between the stinger and top of the scoop bucket. A fracture and laceration of the little finger was a result of the incident.
EE was driving a diesel ride to pick up a part. As ee was driving under an overcast, ee bumped into a Battery Ram Car that was hauling rock dust. The ram car has stopped in the road. The employee bumped knee on the dashboard area of the diesel ride causing a hairline fracture just below left knee. EE had to wear a brace causing ee to be unable to return to work.
