THE REMOTE CONTROL CONTINOUS MINING MACHINE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF REMOVING THE SECOND LIFT OFF OF #6 BLOCK WHEN THE ROOF STARTED WORKING IN A CLAY VEIN. THE MACHINE WAS BACKING OUT BUT COULD N OT TRAM FAST ENOUGH TO PREVENT BEING CAUGHT BY THE ROCK. THERE WAS A CLAY VEIN AND A SURFACE CRACK PRESENT. THE ROCK THAT CAUGHT THE MACHINE FELL TO THE SURFACE CRACK 100' INBY STATION #399.

2 RIGHT SECTION 001-0 MMU WAS IN THE PROCESS OF RETREAT MINING, PULLING THE PUSHOUT OF #2 BLOCK AT6 SATION #467. THE LAST SHUTTLE CAR LOAD OF COAL WAS LOADED AND MINING MACHINE WAS BACKING OUT OF THE AREA WHEN THE ROOF FELL SUDDENLY AND CAUGHT THE MINING MACHINE BEFORE IT COULD GET CLEAR OUT OF THE INTERSECTION . MACHINE RECOVERED IN 23 HRS, MINIMAL LIGHT DAMAGE.
