employee has swollen hand and wrist, said it was caused from using a rubber mallet for several hours on shift. Went to the Dr but didn't report until several days later, went back to Dr got a full release back to work.

Showing all 4While hammering a bucket conveyor door closed after cleaning chute company employee struck own left index finger tip. Received 7 stitches to finger tip. Prescribed antibiotics. ibuprofen.
While removing backhoe bucket tooth, mechanic struck top of tooth with sledge hammer. A small piece of metal came off the tooth and hit mechanic in right upper thigh and entered their thigh about 1". Sliver was about 3/4 " long and 1/16th wide. Metal was stuck in leg required removal at Instacare and 3 stitches.
The miner was installing brackets for teeth on a loader. The brackets were tight and a sledge hammer was used to get the bracket in place. When the miner made one of the swings with the hammer a piece of the bracket chipped off and lodged in the miners left thigh. The miner was taken for medical attention to get the piece removed and stitches were used to close the wound.
