Employee was cutting a band that was around a bundle of timbers, when the band broke the timbers rolled and pinned his leg against the scoop bucket.
Victim was a security guard on duty at RB #5 mine and shot himself in the head with a handgun.

While working on a miner in the re-build shop EE was hammering on a bit when a piece of metal struck him in the left eye. He was wearing safety glasses. He went to Dr. where they removed the foreign object. No lost time.
He was in #3 road way intake side working on water line a piece of hammer chipped off and struck finger.
While helping make a belt splice, went to move knocker over, when EE got hit by a 4 lb hammer by fellow employee.

Taking water line apart. Pipe Wrench slipped off pipe pinching middle finger on left hand between wrench and piece of metal.
EE was outside loading supplies to take U.G. EE was cutting steel straps on a bundle of roof bolts and cut his right index finger.
EE was putting together water line for the continuous miner with a banding tool. His right hand slipped & his right pinky finger was caught between the water line & the banding tool while the hammer was coming down. He mashed his pinky resulting in an open wound, loss of nail, & bone was broken at the tip of the finger. No lost work days. Returned to normal work activity.
EE was replacing a tire on std car. He was pressing down on the wrench when it slipped off the bolt and hit his right leg just above his ankle. Resulting in swelling and bruising.
EE was driving a pin in with a crib block on a piece of equipment. The repetitive motion caused his right wrist and arm to become sore. This resulted in a mild sprain. He visited Pineville ER and was released the same day. No lost work days.
EE was striking a 160-chain with hammer trying to remove a link. A piece of metal from the chain cut into his right hand just above his thumb. He had a visible piece of metal stuck in his right thumb joint above the first knuckle. Minor injury.
Employee stated he was helping the electrician make a splice in the shuttle car cable and his knife slipped off of the cable cutting his little finger on his left hand. Had to have stitches put in finger.
Employee was driving roll pins out of a tail roller. A piece of metal chipped off the punch and struck his left wrist above his gloves. Cut on wrist, open wound.
Employee was pulling broken unit back together when the handle came out of the rope hoist, striking his right thumb resulting in a broken bone and 4 sutures.
EE was cutting a piece of belt at the #2 head drive. The knife slipped off the belt and cut his leg. He cut his left leg on the inner calf-3in. cut- received medical attention. no lost time.
Employee was trimming belt when the knife slipped cutting the inside of his left pointer finger resulting in a cut 1/2" requiring stitches. No lost time.
Employee slipped and fell on track while prying the switch mechanism, resulting in pain in lower back. Not a serious injury.
INJURED STATED HE WAS REMOVING A PLUG TO CHECK THE OIL IN THE HEAD OF THE CONT MINER AND THE WRENCH SLIPPED CAUSING INJURED'S HAND TO STRIKE A BIT ON THE HEAD OF THE MINER. INJURED HAD NO LOST TIME UNTIL 8-7-02 AT WHICH TIME HE WENT TO THE DR AND DISCOVERED HIS HAND HAD BECAME INFECTED.
THE INJURED WAS USING A COME-A-LONG TO JACK A MOTOR INTO PLACE WHEN THE COME-A-LONG SLIPPED AND STRUCK HIM ON THE LEFT KNEE.
THE INJURED WAS BEATING A BEARING ONTO THE SHAFT WITH A HAMMER WHEN A PIECE OF METAL CHIPPED OFF AND PENETRATED HIS LT. LEG.
INJURED STATED THAT HE WAS MUCKING THE CONVEYOR BELT AND HIS FOREARM STRUCK THE BELT AT THE SAME TIME A SPLICE WAS PASSING BY AND THE PIN IN THE SPLICE CUT INJURED APPROX. 2" REQUIRING 4 STITC HES.
THE INJURED WAS SPLICING A CONVEYOR BELT WHEN HIS BELT KNIFE HIT THE TEMPLATE AND SLIPPED AND HIT HIS LEFT INDEX FINGER (LACERATION).
THE SUPPLY CAR WRECKED ON THE TRACK & THE VICTIM WAS USING A RAIL JACK TO RAISE & PUT IT BACK ON TRACK WHEN IT SLIPPED OFF THE JACK & FELL, STRIKING HIS RIGHT ANKLE.
THE INJURED WAS JACKING UP A WRECKED RAIL RUNNER TO PUT BACK ON THE TRACK WHEN THE JACK SLIPPED AND THE HANDLE STRUCK HIM ON THE RT. EAR.
THE INJURED WAS HELPING TO ROLL A HEAD SHAFT ACROSS THE TRACKS WITH A PRY BAR FELT A PAIN IN HIS LOWER BACK.
THE INJURED WAS INSTALLING A CANOPY ON A SHUTTLECAR USING A LIFTING JACK TO HOLD THE CANOPY UP. HE REACHED UNDER THE CANOPY TO PUT IN A PIN AND THE JACK SLIPPED MASHING THUMBS.
INJURED WAS CUTTING A MINING TIMBER TO LENGTH WITH A BOW SAW WHEN THE BLADE JUMPED OUT OF THE GROOVE AND STRUCK HIS FINGER REQUIRING STITCHES.
INJURED WAS SHOVELING FROM UNDER THE CONVEYER BELT WHEN HE FELT SOMETHING PULL IN HIS LOWER BACK AREA.
