While doing field service on hoist a defect was found on the wire rope and had to be retired from service. A new wire rope has been ordered, the miners have been notified and the refuge chamber is operational.

STEPPED UP ONTO FOOT BRIDGE & FELT RT. KNEE "POP". INITIAL MEDICAL EVALUATION NEGATIVE. SUBSEQUENT DR. VISITS RESULTED IN ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY TO RT. KNEE W/LOST TIME & RESTRICTIONS UPON RETUR N. SURGERY 8-1-01. LIGHT DUTY 8-30-01.
