The belt tech was cutting the splicing material on the flatbed of the work truck when the blade slipped from the straight edge and skid across the employee's middle finger, pointer finger, and thumb on EE's left hand. Employee received a total of 17 stitches. Cut through skin only, no tendons. No PT required.

THE EMPLOYEE WAS REMOVING WIRE ROPE TAILS OFF OF A WOOD WIRE ROPE SPOOL. AFTER THE NUTS HAD BEEN CUT OFF OF THE U-BOLT THAT RETAINED THE TAILS ON THE WOODEN SPOOL, HE USED A SHORT PRY BAR TO P RY THE U-BOLT OUT OF THE SPOOL. WHEN THE BOLT CAME FREE IT STRUCK HIS FACE. HE WAS EXAMINED AT THE MEDICAL CENTER & TAKEN IN FOR DENTAL WORK. HE WAS RELEASED FOR WORK WITH NO RESTRICTIONS 6/3
CONTRACTOR WAS ON SITE TO DISMANTLE TWO KOMATSU DOZERS THEY HAD PURCHASED FOR RE-SALE. THE INJURED WORKER WAS DRIVING A PIN FROM THE EQUALIZER BAR WITH A 20# SLEDGE HAMMER. HE STRUCK HIS FINGE R BETWEEN THE HAMMER HANDLE AND THE FROM IDLER OF THE DOZER. HER RETURNED TO WORK WITH LIGHT DUTY RESTRICTION. NO DAYS WERE LOST.
EMPLOYEE WAS STRIPPING WIRES TO ATTACH TERMINALSON AN ELECTRIC MOTOR HE WAS REPLACING. HE WAS USING A UTILITY KNIFE TO STRIP THE WIRES. IT WAS ABOUT 10 DEGREES ABOVE ZERO, AND HE WAS WEARING LEATHER GLOVES. THE KNIFE "SLIPPED" RESULTING TO A PALM LACERATION OF THE HAND HOLDING THE WIRE. THE WOUND WAS CLOSED WITH A SKIN ADHESIVE AT THE LOCAL MEDICAL CENTER.
