An employee was operating the #6 BMR when a rock approximately 2 inches in diameter released from the mining face and deflected off the cutting arm striking the employee in the mouth. The impact caused a chip to the employee's tooth and a scratch to their lip. The employee was treated and released to full duty.

The rock struck the employee in the left ear causing a laceration. The employee was taken to the emergency room where he received seven stitches to close the wound. The employee received a full work release and reported to his next scheduled work shift.
