EE was trying to remove a large rock from the tail of the Joy 14Cm15 by lifting the tail section to the roof and dragging rock off. A piece of the rock broke off and flew back 8'-10', striking the miner operator on the left lower leg and ankle.

EE and two other employees were setting a new belt header. Header frame was sitting on a duck bill of a scoop. Employees were attempting to level the header frame when EE crawled under the boom. The header suddenly tipped forward and struck EE.
EE was in the process of setting up the miner to cut coal. After setting up the miner, he went back to move the cable out of the haul road. He pulled on the miner cable to get it out of the road & felt a pain in his lower back. First day missed was 8/20/07. He will be getting an MRI to determine full extent of injury on 8/28/07.
Employee reported to his section foreman he twisted his knee at 7:30pm on 7/20/07, when he was hanging a cable in the #10 entry. He missed 3/27 & 28/08. He returned to work on 3/31/08. He started missing 4/1/08 and he had surgery on his knee 4/10/08. It was determined after his surgery it was work related.
