EE received electrical Shock while using a mechanical megger to back feed in a de-energized transformer. After an all clear was given, EE reached into the transformer without voltage gloves to check a lug bolt for a elbow. Site medic referred to ER & then onto several Specialists, on 9/22/20 a diagnoses was confirmed for residual nerve damage in right hand.
The employee received an electrical shock as he was climbing onto his Jumbo drill. He was seen by a physician after the incident with no injuries diagnosed. On July 12 he was seen by a physician who took him off work for right knee pain related to the electrical shock. The knee had been operated on in the past. Filing of this 7000-1 was pending receipt of medical documentation.
THE EE WAS RESETTING A BREAKER ON THE 35W600W TRANSFORMER. THERE WAS A FLASHOVER AND HE WAS BURNED ON HIS LEFT ARM, NECK AND FACE.
EE WAS UNPLUGGING A BATTERY CHARGER FROM A BATTERY. AS HE STATED TO REMOVE THE POSITIVE LEAD FROM THE BATTERY POST, THE BATTERY BLEW UP THROWING BATTERY ACID INTO HIS FACE. HE RECEIVED SLIGHT BURNS ON HIS FACE AND STRAINED HIS NECK WHEN HE JERKED BACK FROM THE BATTERY. HE RETURNED FULL DUTY ON 1-12-99. HE SOUGHT MEDICAL ADVICE FOR HIS NECK AND WAS PLACE ON LIGHT DUTY AT THAT TIME.
