Mostrando los 12Employee was helping other rib bolt machine operator get rib fencing in place to bolt the rib, when rib rolled out (coal and rock) striking the employee on left arm and body.
Contract employee (Bates Contracting) was injured while servicing the continuous miner. A piece of rib measuring 10 ft long x 40 in. tall x 20 in thick rolled from the top of rib striking employee from behind and pinning him against the continuous miner.
Rib rolled and hit employee. Employee complained of head, neck, and shoulder pain.
Ee was operating the miner when the rib rolled and hit him in the leg. It did not break any bones, but cause compartment syndrome about 12 hours after the accident. After another 12 to 15 hours, the swelling eased. No surgery or other medical treatment required. Should be back to work in a few days.
Ee was helping get the miner un-stuck when the rib rolled striking his leg. This caused severe bruising and strain. He will be off for 2 or 3 weeks or so, with physical therapy and anti-blood clotting meds.
While Ee was rock dusting, some of the rib fell and hit Ee causing a low back injury.
