Mostrando los 3Injured worker was holding an 8" bolt in left hand while another worker was striking head of bolt with a sledge. During a strike, the sledge missed bolt head and struck the injured workers left hand causing a fracture to the tip of employee's left ring finger.
The worker saw what he believed to be a piece of slag on a steel support. While using a 4 lb sledge hammer to position an I-beam between 2 supports, he made contact with the side of one of the supports while hammering in the downward position. The area where he noticed slag was in fact a sharp edge in which he made contact with. Worker was wearing gloves at time of incident.
