The employee was attempting to insert drill steels into the drill chuck by raising his boom. The steels caught the lip of the chuck placing the steels under pressure. The pressure released suddenly, causing the drill steels to strike his hand.
The employee was attempting to insert his drill steels into the drill chuck. The steels causht the side of the drill chuck when the chuck was raised to the steels. The steels bowed under pressure then released striking the ee's thumb. This caused a dislocation. The ee went to the hospital where dislocation was reset. He return to work and completed his shift.
The employee was preping a piece of angle iron with a hand grinder. He was holding the piece of steel with his left hand. The hand grinder jumped across the piece of steel striking the employee's left thumb. The grinding wheel lacerated the employee's lower thumb. The cut required 5 stitches. The guards on the grinder were in place as required.
The EE was prepping steel with a hand held grinder during contstruction of the wash-plant. A piece of steel/rust entered the EE's eye behind his safety glasses. The incident was reported. The EE thought the object was out of the eye. He began to experience irritation the following day. EE went for treatment on 11/24/06 to have object removed. No lost time is expected.
The ee was attempting to insert drill steels into the drill pot. when they did not line up he applied upward pressure on the boom. The steels warped under the pressure. The steel released into the drill pot slapping the between the thumb and index finger splitting the skin no rotation was involved in this injury. ee received 6 stitches.
A roof bolter op attempted to use machine rotation pressure to aligne his drill steels. This procedure also put pressure on the bottom pusher steel warping the steel. The steel spun striking the op's thumb. His left thumb was fractured where it ataches to the hand.
