Lying on back grinding metal from a screen deck and debris entered EE's left eye. Employee was wearing a shield and safety glasses. The condition did not bother EE until a day and a half later. EE never missed work but was restricted for one day. (No operating equipment and out of any dust)
EE was grinding the head off a bolt in a belt splice when the finger dug into the belt and grabbed his right hand making a 1/2" cut into his hand.
Employee was using a cutting torch to cut a piece of steel(on his back beneath the work) and a piece of hot metal entered his ear canal.
Employee was using an angle grinder with a wire brush to remove rust from a steel plate when his glove got caught in the wire wheel. The wheel pulled his left index finger into the wheel by the glove. No skin breaks but slight fracture in middle phalange.
EE was grinding pipe at the wash plant in prep to weld. The grinder got into a bind, jumped out of the pipe striking his left thigh. The injury was seen in the ER & the Dr thought he would leave it open to heal. (non-recordable) Recently the wound has flared up & the Dr wants to remove the object that must be present making the accident reportable now. (Surgery today 8/24/06)
EMPLOYEE WAS GRINDING RUST OFF OF A PIECE OF METAL IN PREPARATION FOR WELDING WHEN A PIECE OF DUST CAME UNDER HIS SAFETY GLASSES AND ENTERED HISEYE.
