Welding overhead on inlet feed chute for drum. Was wearing safety glasses and welding helmet. Had small amount of slag fall into the helmet. Continued working and finished task. Later, started having irritation and watering of right eye. Sought medical attention and it was discovered that welding slag had became lodged in eye. Surgery required to remove all pieces.

Miner was welding. He did not get his hood down quick enough and got weld flash in his eyes. It did not bother him until some time later. He went to the emergency room and the doctor gave him eye drops with gentamicin sulfate. The ER doctor told him to see an eye doctor. At 9 am he saw the eye doctor who stated that there was nothing wrong with him.

Employee was working on an engine straightening fins on the radiator. The tool he was using slipped and two of his fingers touched the moving fan. He was taken to the doctor's office where two stitches were put in his finger.
