A Mine Engineer sustained a fracture to right lower leg while operating the JLG Manlift. While tramming the manlift drove over a rock which caused them to unexpectedly get jostled in the basket, causing them to come down on right foot in an awkward manner resulting in the injury.

Mostrando los 15An equipment operator was in a Cat 980H FEL working at the Aglime stockpile. While at the face of the stockpile working the pile a large chunk of frozen material broke free falling about 15 feet & landed in bucket. The weight of the material caused the loader to tip forward causing operator to be thrown forward in the cab making contact with the door glass and cab support pillar.
On Wednesday, August 29th sometime around 2:00 PM a car was found in the main lobe of Thornton Quarry. Upon investigation the deceased driver was observed inside the vehicle. It appears from preliminary findings that this incident is a suicide. The car entered the quarry from Williams street landing 150 feet below. The local Police are conducting an investigation.
In the early morning hours of January 14, 2011 a private vehicle traveling north on Williams Street left the roadway sustaining considerable damage. The vehicle came to rest on Thornton Quarry property in the the area of the tarping station. The vehicle had two occupants, passenger pronounced dead at the scene, driver transported to hospital. This incident did not involve miners.

A mechanic sustained a nasal fracture when he was struck in the face with the parking brake pedal on a p/u truck. The injured miner was repairing the parking brake on a p/u truck which would not release. While attempting to release the parking brake pedal manually by hand, the pedal released easier than he expected and struck him in the face.
This incident did not involve a miner. A private vehicle traveling north on Williams Street left the roadway striking a section of fence and the main gate at the entrance to Thornton Quarry. The driver sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to Christ Hospital. The Thornton IL Police Department is handling the investigation.
A laborer suffered a contusion and laceration to his left hand while installing a section of conveyor. The injured miner was cutting a bolt that was in the way and when the cut was complete the conveyor moved causing his left hand (off hand) to be caught between the conveyor and another object.
The injured miner was rigging scrap steel to an extended reach fork lift when he was struck on the top of his hard hat by one of the forks as it was lowered. He is now experiencing pain and stiffness in his neck. He did not seek medical treatment until May 28, 2010
Employee did not report injury to plant manager. He told the manager he did not know when or where he hurt his back. Employee then told his personal doctor that he may have hit a rut when driving his haul truck but was not sure when he hurt his back.
At the end of the shift, the injured was driving his personal vehicle to the locker room to pick up his dirty clothing and lunch box, when he struck the yard gate at the front of the property.
The injured was decending the Cherry Picker and when he reached ground level he felt a pain in his right ankle.
The employee was operating the locomotive and when he was given the signal to stop he struck his shoulder on the window frame.

WHILE DRIVING A HAUL TRUCK THE EE STRUCK HIS HAND IN THE CAB AND INJURED HIS LEFT INDEX FINGER.
