Pin used to anchor saw track to the ground was stuck in a drill hole. Miner was using a sledge hammer to dislodge the pin when the hammer glanced the pin, bouncing off, and striking the left small finger. Fracturing the tip of the finger and causing a laceration.

Miner was attempting to remove a stuck wheel bearing from a quarry saw with a hammer when they struck and smashed their finger. The injury occurred during ordinary maintenance operations. There was nothing unusual about the conditions and there was no damage to equipment nor injury to any other employee.
