HE WAS PUMPING AND TREATING WATER FROM THE PIT. HE WAS CLIMBING DOWN THE EMBANKMENT AT THE INLET TO THE TREATMENT POND TO ADJUST THE FLOW OF THE CHEMICAL DRIPPER. HE SLIPPED ON THE WET ROCKS A ND FELL, LANDING ON HIS ELBOW WHICH JARRED HIS SHOULDER. THE FALL RESULTED IN SORENESS AND SWELLING OF HIS RIGHT SHOULDER CAUSED BY STRAINED OR POSSIBLY TORN LIGAMENTS.
EE & CO-WORKER WERE REMOVING THE GRILLE FROM THEDOZER TO STEAM CLEAN THE RADIATOR. EE WAS STANDING ON THE BLADE STABILIZER ARM, APPROX ONE FOOT OFF THE GROUND. HE REACHED FOR A WRENCH AND WHEN HE TURNED BACK TO HIS WORK, HIS LEGS GAVE OUT, POSSIBLY DUE TO HIS PREVIOUS BACK INJURY & FELL TO THE GROUND. HIS ANKLE TWISTED BENEATH HIS WEIGHT CAUSING A SERIOUS SPRAIN & TORN CARTILAGE.

INJURED ADN A MECHANIC WERE LIFTING ATUMBLER SHAFT WEIGHT APPROX 200-250 LBS FROMT HE GROUND UP ONTO A TRUCK BED. HE DIDN'T REALIZE HE HAD HURT HIMSELF UNTIL ABOUT AN HOUR LATER WHEN HE START ED FEELING A TIGHTNESS BETWEEN HIS SHOULDER BLADES. THE PAIN CONTINUALLY GREW WORSE OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEDEND AND WHEN HE CAME TO WORK ON TUESDAY HE WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM HIS TASKS AND HE AHD
EE IS NOT CERTAIN WHEN THE STRAIN ACTUALLY OCCURRED HE HAD CUT FIVE 1 5/8 INCH X 42 FT CABLES AND HAD TO DRAG THEM TOGETHER TO HOOK TO HIS TRUCK TO MOVE THEM. LATER IN THE DAY HE AND EE CHANGE D THE DRAG CHAINS ON THE DRAGLINE BUCKET WHICH REQUIRED SOME LIFTING. HE DIDNOT REALIZE HE HAD HURT HIMSELF UNTIL LATER THAT EVENING.

HE SAID HE WASNT SURE HOS OR WHEN IT HAPPENED, FUT A SLAG CHIP OR A PIECE OF STEEL MUST HAVE GONE BETWEEN HIS HA RD HAT AND HIS WELDING SHIELD INTO HIS EYE. LATER THAT EVENING HE WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND HAD THE FOREIGN BODY REMOVED AND HAD TOA GET A PRESCRIPTION FOR EYE DROPS.
THE MECHANIC WAS BUSY TAKING THE MOTOR OUT OF THE 988 CAT LOADER FRONT END LOADER HE HAD CRAWLED UNDERNEATH TO LOOSEN SOME BOLTS THE BOLTS WERE RUSTY AND WHEN HE BROKE THEM LOOSE A PIECE OF R UST FELL IN HIS EYE
FIXING CHAIN USED FOR TOWING PURPOSES.HOLDING REPAIR LINK WITH RIGHT HAND,TRYING TO CLOSE LINK WITH SLEDGE HAMMER ON BED OF WELDING TRUCK.BROKE TIP OF MIDDLE FINGER AND NAIL HAD TO BE DRIL LED TO RELIEVE PRESSURE.
