Employee got hit with a piece of rock that scaled between the roof bolt plate and the right rib. The rock fell against his ankle. The employee worked the remainder of the shift. Got up this morning with a lot of swelling. Went and was diagnosed with a sprain. He is on crutches and will probably be off a few days.

While mining in a sandrock roll, a piece of rock shot off the bull wheels, striking the EE in the right eye area breaking the safety glasses. The glasses probably saved the eye.
While kneeling on left knee eating a sandwich, a piece of rock fell from the roof behind him, striking him on the left calf. The rock hit him in a vertical motion like a chop.
EE was bolting roof with some draw rock. When he tightned and torqued the bolt, he heard the rock break. He tried to run instead of staying under the driller's canopy. While moving out the rock fell striking him on his right thigh. The rock was 3'x 3'x 1" thick.
After installing the right outside bolt the employee was swinging his drill boom in to put the 2nd bolt in. While starting to swing a piece of rock measuring 3"thick X 2'long X 18"wide came between the bolt & rib hitting the drillers canopy, breaking into pieces, one of which dropped to the mine floor & struck the EE on the left ankle.
EE WAS CRAWLING OUTBY FACE AREA A PIECE OF ROCK FELL FROM ROOF FALLING ON RIGHT FOOT. AREA WAS BOLT ON ROCK FELL BETWEEN BOLTS.
WHILE OPERATIONG A REMOTE CONTROL MINER, A PIECE OF SHALE CAME DOWN FROM THE ROOF, CUTTING EE'S BOOT. IT ALSO CUT HIS FOOT OPEN.
EMPLOYEE WAS OPERATING CONTIUIOUS MINER WITH REMOTE CONTROL WHEN A SMALL PIECE OF ROCK FELL ON HIS HAND BRUISING IT.
INJURED EMPLOYEE WAS REACHING INTO DECK OF CONTINUOUS MINER TO REMOVE SHEAR SHAFT THAT WAS LAYINGON TOP OF VALVE BANK WHEN ROCK MEASURING APPROX 3' X 5' X 0-1' THICK FELL ON CANOPY HIT HIM ON SHOULDER KNOCKED HIM DOWN & FELL ON HIS LEG.
INJURED PERSON WAS REACHING TO RESET THE CIRCUIT BREAKER ON THE SIDE OF THE MINER WITH HIS RIGHT HAND LAYING ON TO OF THE MACHINE WHEN A ROCK FELL CUTTING HIS FINGER.
