An employee dropped a rock on his foot while trimming it with a hammer.
Employee was moving a rock weighing approx 30 lb when he felt a pain in his upper left leg. He was diagnosed as having a ligament sprain.
A small shard of metal broke off of the sledgehammer the miner was using to trim rock and lodged in his right leg approx 4" below the knee. He was taken to the E.R. where the shard was removed and 3 stitches were applied. Miner was released for work immediately but was given 2 days off.
EMPLOYEE WAS MOVING ROCKS MANUALLY. A ROCK SLIPPED ADN CAUGHT HIS FINGER BETWEEN IT AND ANOTHER ROCK CRUSHING THE FINGER AND CAUSING A LACERATION BUT NO BONE BREAKAGE. NO REGULATIONS OR RULES WERE BROKEN. NOR WAS THERE A LACK OF PROTECTIVE CLOTHING.
EMPLOYEE WAS IN PROCESS OF MOVING ROCK. ANOTHER ROCK PARTIALLY SUPPORTED BY ROCK BEING MOVED SLIPPED & CAUGHT EMPLOYEES INDEX FINGER ABOVE LAST JOINT (ON TOP). IMPACT CAUSING LACERATION. TH ERE WAS NO RULE OR REGULATION BROKEN OR LACK OF PROTECTIVE CLOTHING ITEM. NO EQUIPMENT OR MACHINERY WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT.
