The Crusher Motor Control Center and Building was extensively damaged by a fire sometime between the night of December 10 and 7:45 a.m. (time of discovery) on the morning of December 11, 2009. The fire was essentially out at the time of discovery. There were no mine personnel on the site at the time of the event.

EE HAD COMPLETED HIS SHIFT AND WALKED TOHIS PERSONAL VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER HIS VEHICLE, EE SLIPPED ON ICE, FELL AND STRUCK LEFT KNEE ON GROUND.

SMOKE WAS OBSERVED AT THE CRUSHER FACILITY. UPON INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A FIRE WAS BURNING ON THE BELT BETWEEN THE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY CRUSHERS. DUE TO THE CONFINED AREA OF TH E FIRE AND THE PROXIMITY OF A PROFESSIONAL FIRE COMPANY, THE HANNA FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO FIGHT THE BLAZE.
