EE stated Continuous Miner lost power so EE walked down to power center. When they arrived section electrician was trouble shooting C/M cathead. Electrician then said they were about to put the power in on C/M. In the process of putting power on the machine a cable splice grounded, causing the cable to blow up beside the injured employees face.

Mostrando los 6Employee was in the process of watering the batteries on the belt maintenance duckbill mantrip. When they leaned over the batteries to remove the cell caps, the channel locks that they had on their belt came in contact with the frame of the batteries and the positive terminal post causing an electrical arc and the employee experienced flash burns to the face and eyes.
Employee was pulling up cable slack,cable blew out, arc flashed in face and eyes.
Employees moved the roof bolter outby to replace a damaged roof bolt then hung the CM cable to clean with the scoop. After returning the RB to the face, they realized that something had roofed the CM cable in the top. While walking over to see if it needed to be repaired it blew up and burnt the employees face.
Injured employee was in the process of moving bolter cable when ee was shocked by it while handling it in mud. Employee sought medical treatment and was given a full release.
The employee stated they were checking charge on a 500 scoop and in that process they wiggled the plug and caused an arc flash burning their right arm. The employee sought medical attention and was placed on restricted duty. The incident is reported as a restricted duty.
