Two emp were drilling a hole in the mine floor with a hydraulic drill. The drill bit caught causing this emp to stumble & loose grip on the handle of the drill. The drill spun causing emp hand to become caught in the hand guard with emp hand stuck on the trigger. 2nd emp fell into conveyor feeder. This emp taken to dr and placed on restrictions.
Emp. was welding overhead using welding hood. Used chipping hammer to remove slag while still under the welding hood. Lifted hood and used wire brush to clean up weld. A hot piece of slag entered the right eye. Emp. taken to ER and eye flushed and given antibiotic. No restrictions given.
Emp. stated had been using a pair of leather gloves that had excess material in the stitching on one of the fingers and emp. thought it had rubbed a sore spot on finger. When asked emp. showed finger and it was obvious that it was infected and swollen just behind the fingernail. Emp. taken to clinic, finger drained and given antibiotic. No restrictions.
After experiencing discomfort in the ear for several days, an emp saw personal Dr. because they suspected an ear infection. The Dr. discovered and removed a small piece of foam from an ear plug within the ear, and prescribed preventive antibiotic ear drops. Initial investigation confirmed that the employee has only used hearing protection in the work environment.
Two emp. were operating the suction line off the vacuum truck. One employee got left arm pulled into the suction hose. Second emp. shut the truck off. Emp. taken to ER and given a prescription pain med.
Emp was working with two other emp underground. Co-workers noticed that the employee was exhibiting symptoms of heat related illness. The emp was removed from the work area and taken to ER for precautions. The emp was treated for heat stress and received IV fluids. The employee returned to work with no restrictions.
