VICTIM WAS TRAVELING NORTHBOUND ON I-75 WHEN FLYING MATERIAL STRUCK THE VECHILE IN WHICH HE WAS A PASSENGER RESULTING IN FATAL INJURIES. THE FLYING MATERIAL WAS DIRT OR MUD WHICH WAS DISPELLED FROM A SURFACE MINE WHICH WAS IN THE PROCESS OFBLASTING THIS MATERIAL WAS THROWN APPROX. 240 FT FROM THE BLAST SITE TO THE VECHILE. CHARCEABILITY IS BEING LOOKED INTO.

    The detonator had a dead battery. In order to set off the shot, employee brought up a loader. The loader battery was used to set the shot off. Employee was unable to be inside the shelter provided for blasting.
