Colombia's mining record
Between 2005 and Sep 24, 2026, ANM's emergency register lists 2,149 mining emergencies with 2,467 deaths; 37.0% of the deaths occurred at workings ANM classifies as illicit. ANM's cadastre lists 6,020 active mining titles held by 1,824 companies.
The Agencia Nacional de Minería (ANM) keeps the national mining cadastre and publishes it with the holder's tax id, the NIT, so every title here joins exactly. Its mine-rescue group keeps a register of every mining emergency reported to it and handled by its stations; ANM does not publish it, and delivered it to Mining Incidents in answer to a public-information petition. The agency also publishes lessons-learned records for some fatal accidents, and its press office reports emergencies within a day or two. The safety-sanctions register was requested on September 17, 2026; that petition's status is further down.

ⓘ
A mining emergency reported to ANM and handled by its mine-rescue stations and support points, as listed in the register the agency delivered in answer to a public-information petition. It is not every mining death in the country.ⓘ
ANM classifies each emergency by the legal status of the working where it happened: legal, illicit or other. The classification is ANM's, not ours. From the emergency register ANM delivered to Mining Incidents in answer to a derecho de petición (radicado 20261004896502; answer 20263410388871).
ANM register with emergencies through Sep 24, 2026 (extract of Sep 28, 2026, delivered Sep 30, 2026).
ⓘ
A título minero is a concession contract or licence registered in the Registro Minero Nacional; ANM's cadastre lists each with its expediente code, holders, minerals, stage and status.ⓘ
NIT is Colombia's tax identifier (Número de Identificación Tributaria). ANM's cadastre publishes it for every company holder, so records join exactly.Titles, applications and formalization subcontracts synced weekly from ANM's own map service (last refreshed Oct 6, 2026). Natural persons hold many titles too (11,426 cédula holders); they are named on title rows but never get a page.
ⓘ
A per-accident PDF ANM published as a lesson learned or a safety alert, read into structured fields. ANM chooses which accidents get one.ⓘ
A record is linked when its text names a título code that matches the cadastre exactly. The "lección aprendida" and "alerta de seguridad" PDFs ANM published for accidents from 2013 to 2026, each read into date, place, exploitation type, deaths and mechanism. A subset the agency chose to write up, never a census.
ⓘ
One emergency an ANM press release describes: a death, entrapment, rescue, collapse or explosion at a mining site.Every ANM press release since 2014 is read daily; the ones reporting an emergency are extracted into events, newest Sep 30, 2026, feed last read Oct 10, 2026. These are press releases, not the agency's register.
Emergencies in ANM press releases since the register's newest (Sep 24, 2026): 2, with 7 deaths. That figure is a floor.
ANM's rescue group keeps a consolidated register of every mining emergency it attends (procedure MIS5-P-001). ANM does not publish the rows; it delivered them in answer to the emergencies petition, and that register is the first layer on this page. The petition for the safety-sanctions register is still pending; the statutory answer window is 10 business days.
