employee was splitting stone with a hammer and chisel when a stone slipped and smashed his finger. He was transported to the hospital and examined. Doctor decided it was too injured to save and amputated his finger just below the first knuckle.

Stone splitter was moving stone to split when another stone slid onto finger, he was wearing safety equipment. Right index finger was fractured.
