Employee evacuated truck on mine ramp and hit head on ramp floor causing serious head injury. *EE died on 3/19/2024.
Final MSHA investigation
On July 26, 2023, at approximately 2:45 p.m., Kyle Pennington, a 24 year-old miner with over four years of mining experience, was seriously injured when he lost control of a pickup truck while driving up a slope. Pennington passed away on March 19, 2024, due to complications from injuries sustained during the accident.The accident occurred because the mine operator did not correct the defective service brake in a timely manner before it created a hazard to Pennington.
