CRANE OPERATOR WAS MOVING CRANE BOOM. HIT POWER LINE. HE WAS INSTRUCTED TO ONLY CUT STEEL FROM STRUCTURE AND NOT TO GET ON CRANE AS IT WAS NOT HIS ASSIGNED MACHINE. NOT KNOWN WHY HE DID MOVE C RANE BOOM.

EMPLOYEE PUT CH5IN ON MOTOR TO LIFT IT. MOTOR TILTED TO RIGHT. EMPLOYEE GOT ON MOTOR TO BALANCE IT. IT TILTED AND FOOT WAS CAUGHT BETWEEN MOTOR AND CHAIN.

INJURED WAS PREPARING A LOAD OF SAND PALLETS FOR SHIPMENT. HE WAS USING OFF LOADING DEVICE ON TRAILER. HE WAS UPON TOP OF TRAILER TRYING TO OPERATE CONTROLS FROM TOP OF TRAILER. THESE SHOULD O NLY BE OPERATED FROM GROUND POSITION HE CAUGHT HIS RIGHT THUMB BETWEEN FRAME AND LIFTING DEVICE AND CRUSHED HAND.
