Struck by... (Not Elsewhere Classified)

Welding with mig welder and accidentally hit the trigger switch to on position. The welding gun was near his left leg when this happened. This caused the welding wire to penetrate into his left calf.

Caught in, under or between a moving and a stationary object

Blanchard Field Service technician was in the cab of 769 haul truck with right side door open. Right hand was on door jamb. Door shut on right thumb causing contusion and laceration to right thumb.

Fall onto or against objects

The employee was using a wrench to tighten a nut on a bolt that was welded to a conveyor frame. The weld failed where the bolt was attached to the conveyor frame causing him to loose his balance and he struck the frame of the conveyor with his right hand, injuring his middle and ring fingers.

Flash burns (welding)

A plant maintenance welder was welding in a confined area at our jaw crusher feeder box when he was subjected to welding flash. Due to the precarious position he was in, his helmet got hung up on a support beam above him as he was flipping it down to cover his face. Subsequently striking an arc and receiving enough ultra violet rays to cause some cornea burns of the left eye.

Accident type, without injuries

Electrical power pole caught on fire and could not be extinguished until the power company came out and de-energized the line to this pole. Did not involve any property owned by Hanson, but took more than 30 minutes to put out.

Struck against a moving object

A large rock slid from the top of the muck pile and before the operator could back out of the way the rock slammed the bucket of the Caterpillar 988B pit loader. This caused the employee to lurch forward hurting his neck in the process. He was diagnosed with a neck sprain.

Employee stepped out of truck onto truck's fuel tank. Employee's right heel hung in the step, causing employee to twist foot, which resulted in a right ankle sprain.
