Worker was attempting to straighten a piece of metal, approximately 2"W x 4"L x 1/2"thick by laying it on top of a bench vise (unsecured), and striking it with a hammer. Upon striking the piece of metal, it popped up, and struck the worker in the lip resulting in a laceration that required stitches.
