He was carrying a 10 lb. stone from a conveyor belt to a pallet. When he stepped off the 3 inch platform, he heard and felt a "pop" on the left side of his spine. Within 30 min, he was experiencing pain and weakness in his back and left leg.

He was shrink wrapping pallets of stone, walking around the pallets and he caught his left calf (leg) on a stone from another pallet. He stopped work & went into 1st aid area, cleaned out wound, stopped bleeding - it was covered with a sterile dressing. He went to walk in clinic to get 3 stitches. Returned to work light duty.

EE WAS HAND-TRIMMING BEDFORD COPING STONE - 36" X 20" X 2 1/4". PIECES WERE ON FLOOR SITTING ON A PALLET (WEIGHT APPROX. 50 - 70 LBS). EE WAS LIFTING STONE FROM PALLET WITH BOTH HANDS TO WAIST HEIGHT. DURING LIFT HE FELT A "POP" IN HIS SHOULDER (LEFT). INCREASED PAIN IN L. SHOULDER FOLLOWING "POP" DURING ANY MOVEMENT - STOPPED WORKING AFTER IT WOULDN'T STOP HURTING.
