The employee was using a hand crank to raise the crossover platform on the rail load out. EE then engaged the stop gear on the crank. As EE released the handle the stop gear did not engage, this caused the handle to free spin. The handle struck the employee on left index finger, the impact of the handle cut finger. EE was wearing gloves at the time of the incident.
Employee was walking across railroad tracks in the rail yard. As the employee crossed the final track on the way back to the truck, employee fell and hit head.
