Fall onto or against objects

Miner was walking down a slop with loose rocks slipped and fell cutting right forearm on a rock. EE received 9 stitches on the forearm and came back to work with no work restrictions.

Struck against stationary object

While pushing crushed rock with a bar in a plugged chute the victim struck right hand against a metal brace causing it to bruise. The victim thought the hand was broken so was transported to a nearby doctor for examination. The doctor had an x-ray done. After examining the x-ray the doctor determined that the injury was not a broken bone but just a bruise.

Struck by flying object

While collecting drill cuttings from an exploratory drill hole a gust of wind blew dust from the drill' s dust collector discharge into the eye of the miner. The dust scratched his right eye. The next day his spouse asked him why his eye was red. A doctor prescribed topical antibiotics and steroids to treat the eye. He did not experience any loss of vision.

Caught in, under or between a moving and a stationary object

Miner was replacing v-belts on jaw crusher drive. While rolling the new v-belts into place, sheave turned and pinched miner's finger between v-belt and sheave. Miner received 6 stitches to tip of ring finger on his right hand.

While clearing trees and brush the miner was struck by a falling tree in his back which resulted in a broken rib.

WHILE TRYING TO ENTER A LARGE PIECE OF MOBILE EQUIPMENT, THE VICTIM STEPPED UP ONTO A SURFACE AND HEARD A LOAD ""POP"". WHEN HE TRIED TO PUT WEIGHT ON HIS RIGHT FOOT IT WOULD NOT SUPPORT HIM.

WHILE REPLACING V-BELT ON A DRIVE PULLEY, THE FINGER WAS PINCHED BETWEEN THE V-BELT AND THE PULLEY. THE LEFT HAND RING FINGER WAS BROKEN AND THE FINGER NAIL WAS DISPLACED AND THE SKIN WAS CUT.

THE EMPLOYEE STRAINED HIS ELBOW PULLING ON A WRENCH WHILE PERFORMING MAINTENANCE WORK ON A PIECE OF MACHINERY. THE DOCTOR DESCRIBE THE CONDITION AS ""TENNIS ELBOW."" THE DOCTOR PRESCRIBED AND AN TI-INFLAMMATORY AND PAINKILLER.
